Race to Zero launches Breakthroughs

Our partner, the UN Race to Zero, has launched: The Race to Zero Breakthroughs (now named "2030 Breakthroughs") which have been published in a special paper, and sets out the specific, near-term tipping points for more than 20 sectors that make up the global economy, forming a master plan around which business, governments, and civil society have referred to, ahead of COP26.

A “breakthrough” is a moment that marks a significant advance in the transformation of an economic sector or natural system.

Climate High-Level Champions

Collectively, they articulate what key actors must do, and by when, to deliver the sectoral changes needed to achieve a resilient, net zero future.

Achieving targets to halve emissions by 2030 would require actors to authentically and rapidly converge on a common set of clear goals to achieve systemic change - from restored, protected ecosystems, to transformed societal norms.
