Business Declares Kx: The New B Corp Standards - Raising the Ambition on Activism & Campaigning

BD Kx 1 - Apr 2026 - TT Banner (3)

Businesses have a critical role to play, and should advocate for urgent systemic and regulatory change, to tackle the climate, ecological and social polycrisis.

The new B Corp standardslaunched by B Lab in April 2025, now require organisations to evidence how they are demonstrating advocacy and collective action. This critical area of business impact in the new B Corp Standards - Government Affairs and Collective Action (GACA) - is a mandatory requirement for all organisations seeking B Corp certification. These standards require businesses to play a leadership role beyond their own operations, through responsible lobbying, transparent political engagement, and meaningful collective action.

Many companies (whether a B Corp or not) are now trying to understand:
What does activism mean for us? How do we step into this space authentically and confidently? What evidence will we need to show - for certification or as a business case to our board and investors? What does a realistic roadmap look like for us?

Join us to explore this critical area of business impact, find out what it means for your business, and hear examples of businesses who are already demonstrating concrete action.

In this Knowledge Xchange, we will:

  • Decipher what activism means to you - and how your organisation might act.
  • Showcase examples of businesses taking the lead on campaigning and activism.
  • Explore the tools, resources and community support available for businesses to use, including the Business Declares network.

Speakers

This session will feature speakers from three different organisations, who are members of both Business Declares and the B Corp community.

  • Debbie Thackray (Moderator) - Impact Director at AG Impact, who are taking a lead in collective action.
  • Amy Robinson - Corporate Projects Manager at Triodos Bank UK, who will walk through what it means to take a responsible, transparent approach to lobbying and advocacy.
  • Paul Coverdale - Co-Founder & B Leader at The Pollinators - A B Corp consultancy, who make joining the B Corp community accessible for all businesses - who are piloting the new standards.
